 - Transition from paper CPR cards to eCards: The American Heart Association is requiring all organizations to transition from a paper card to an eCard.

Starting in July, WMHS will be transitioning to American Heart Association (AHA) eCards for all of our courses.  All AHA Training Centers (TCs) will be required to issue AHA eCards for course completion cards to providers who successfully complete the requirements of AHA courses no later than January 2019.  The reasons for this change is primarily due to the cost as well as security risks with counterfeit paper cards.  The eCard is the electronic equivalent of the printed AHA course completion card and will have the same expiration of 2 years.  This change will affect all of our provider courses, i.e. BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

This change will have a major impact on our processes of distributing cards and providing a paper copy to the student.  Employers will be able to verify the cards, i.e. the employee can send a copy of the card or the employer can verify the card via the AHA website.  However, the responsibility is up to the employee to ‘claim their card’ before the employer can validate the card.  We know this is going to be a big change, but we have no choice with this change from AHA.  Within the next couple of weeks, we will be starting the education for our employees.  Attached is some of the information from AHA’s website.  Listed below are the videos from AHA.
